Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706

Johann Pachelbel was a Baroque period composer, organist, and teacher. He was born in Nuremberg, Germany in 1653. We don’t know his actual birthdate, but we do know he was baptized on September 1st. He studied music at Altdorf University. One of his students was Johann Christoph Bach, who later went on to teach his own little brother, Johann Sebastian Bach. After his first wife and child died, Pachelbel and his second wife, Barbara Gabler had one daughter, Amalia, and a number of sons, Wilhelm and Charles (who also became organists), and Johann.
