Edmund Dantes puts his ship ashore on the forbidden island of Elba in search of a doctor. Only Napoleon Bonaparte’s intervention saves him from certain death. The former dictator coerces Dantes into carrying a letter back to France which eventually lands him in the infamous prison Chateau d’If for 13 years. Contact with a “mad” priest enables Dantes to escape and take revenge on those responsible for his wrongful imprisonment.
