Happy Birthday Abraham Lincoln!

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. ~ Abraham Lincoln

There are quite a few presidential birthdays in February. Abraham Lincoln’s is today, February 12th!  The 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln served in office during the Civil War, from 1861-1865. Born in Hardin County, Kentucky, Lincoln moved to Indiana at age 8. He was largely self-educated and spent much time reading while he was working on a farm, splitting wood for fences, and keeping a store in Illinois. Prior to serving as President, he married Mary Todd and they had four children. He is famous for having issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1983, freeing all Confederate slaves. Lincoln won a second term in office at the same time the Civil War was coming to an end, but sadly, was assassinated in 1865.
